“Generation 180” is the name given to our teen ministry at Delhi Baptist Church. We purpose to be a generation of repentance: one that is constantly turning from sin, and turning to Christ. Our theme verse is 1 Peter 2:9 …
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light …”
THE FOUNDATION OF GENERATION 180
Generation 180 exists to bring glory to God (1 Cor. 10:31) through discipling teens (Matthew 28:19-20) and helping them grow in their love for God and others (Matt. 22:37-40; 2 Pet. 3:18). This will happen within - and therefore, NOT separate from - two contexts: the church (Acts 2:42-47) and the family (Deuteronomy 6:4-9).
Sunday School - Currently, all our teens (7th-12th grade) meet together for the Sunday School hour each Sunday morning. Here teens have the opportunity for deep Bible study and theological instruction.
High School: (currently all our high-schoolers are meeting with our adult Sunday School classes; to learn about these classes, please visit our Adult Ministries page.)
Wednesday Nights - Our high school-ers and junior highers meet separately during our Wednesday night activities. While there is a high priority on the time of Bible instruction, time is also devoted to corporate worship, prayer, and fellowship.
GENERATION 180 EVENTS
Generation 180 keeps the calendar packed with many events throughout the year. The events could grouped into the following categories:
Service Events - The majority of our events are intended to give teens the opportunities to serve. These can include church services led by the teens, work days to help our Senior Saints, visiting nursing homes, Christmas-caroling, church fellowships where the teens are "put to work," as well as church-wide outreach activities where the teens get involved.
Fellowship Events - We also provide many opportunities for the teens to fellowship with one another. Events here mainly include informal "get-togethers" after our Sunday evening services (at the church, or in homes), but would also include events like our Spring Banquet, Clue Mystery Theatre, and 5th Quarter outreach activities.
Evangelism Events - Through some of our events, teens also have opportunities to either share the gospel, or bring un-believing friends to hear the gospel and get connected with our church. Events here would include our Clue Mystery Theatre, 5th Quarter outreach activities, Vacation Bible School, and AWANA.
IL-MO ARBC EVENTS
Teens also have the opportunity to get connected with other teens from across the state events with our Association of churches: the Illinois-Missouri Association of Regular Baptist Churches. These events include:
Talents for Christ - event for teens to serve and use their God-given gifts for Him
Teen Life Conference - teen Bible conference, held at Camp Manitoumi
Summer Camp at Camp Manitoumi - to learn more, visit www.manitoumi.com
Fall-tastic - evangelistic event that also has in the past included laser tag, demolition ball, adult-size play-places, roller skating, arcades, and bowling.
Camp Manitoumi Winter Retreat - event for teens to return to camp, fellowship with other teens, and review lessons learned at camp during the summer
